The sensors not only inform the CPU board of the presence of a tube rack, they also tell if a rack is
jammed. This is done by the CPU board directing the Driver PC Board to move a motor; if a sensor

still

detects the rack after the motor was directed to move the rack onward, the CPU board treats

this as a rack jam and places the system into an error state.

Once the rack has been sampled and moved to the far left side of the cross-feed area, the

sensor detects the rack.

With

PH5

detecting a rack, the Driver PC Board is instructed to move the Outfeed Assembly using

motor PM3. This action moves the rack out towards the front of the unit. As racks accumulate in this
outfeed area, it fills up until a rack is finally pressed against sensor

PH6

. This is an alert to inform

the CPU board to direct the Driver board to enable motor PM4, which moves the Return Feed
Assembly, directing the rack to the right side of the return feed area. Sensor

ORG4

is used as the

home position for the Return Feed Assembly.
