6-3-3 The Cross Feed Assembly
6-3-3-1
The Cross Feed Assembly (see Figure 6-2) cross feeds or moves the tube racks across the rear
wall of the instrument. A 24 VDC PF42T-48071G 1/15 Stepper Motor PM2 (item 3) drives a Timing
Pulley (15) which in turn moves a Timing Belt (16). Attached to the belt is a Cross Feed Arm (32),
used to move the tube rack from right to left.

The Return Feed Assembly (Figure 6-3) moves the tube racks across the front instrument wall, so
racks may be rotated in an

ndless loop.?A 24VDC PF42T-48071G 1/10 stepper motor, called
PM4 (item 17 on Figure 6-3), rotates a Winding Drum pulley (item 14), whose steel cable Wire (22)
and plastic Pulleys (13 and 21) move a Lever (34) to push the tube racks from left to right. The tube
rack presses down the lever when its motion is reversed. Motor PM4 is homed using ORG4, a
5VDC EE-SX153 photodiode/phototransistor sensor (item 24)
