10.1 Switching on the XDL
About the start up process
To start up the XDL series projector the sealed compartment of the Light Processor and the sealed
compartment of the Laser Clusters must be brought into a 'condition' which is safe for the electronics to
operate (avoid moisture due to extreme cooling). In other words, the temperature and humidity inside these
compartments must be brought within specs prior to activating the lasers and Light Processor. The time
needed to bring the projector from a
deconditioned
state into a
conditioned
state depends on the ambient
conditions and can take several minutes. This process is called
conditioning
.
Startup checklist
1.
Check if the chillers are correctly installed. See documentation set of the chillers.
2.
Check if one chiller is equipped with the expansion unit for DMD cooling.
3.
Check if the XDL series projector is properly installed onto a stable platform and all covers are installed.
4.
Check if all hoses are properly connected with the chiller(s) and projector. See chapter
”
, page 53.
5.
Check if the data cables between chiller(s) and projector are correctly installed. See chapter
“
data cable with projector and chillers
6.
Check if the projector is connected with the mains electricity. See chapter
Connecting the projector with the
, page 60.
7.
Check if the ambient temperature and humidity are within specifications. See chapter
“
”
, page 32.
8.
Check if the chiller(s), hoses and projector are completely acclimatized to the same ambient temperature.
9.
Check if the correct lens is installed for the application and the lens cap is removed from the lens. See
“
, page 70.
10.
Check if the small drain tubes at the bottom of the projector lead to a water drain or to an open reservoir to
capture the condensed water. See chapter
“
, page 32.
Keep in mind that it can take up to 10 minutes to start the lasers again after they were switched off.
If there are only 30 to 45 minutes between the shows it
’
s advisable to keep the lasers on with
shutter closed. When the shutter is closed the lasers are automatically dimmed.
Start up procedure
1.
Switch on the chiller(s). The status light of the chiller(s) should light up white. See documentation set of the
chiller.
Caution:
Make sure the chiller(s) are powered
before
powering the projector. The chiller(s) should
always be on while the projector is powered.
2.
Press the
Power Switch
(reference 1, Image 10-1) to switch the projector
ON
.
The projector starts up to standby mode. The
Power on/off
button will blink until standby mode is achieved
(reference 1, Image 10-2). Once in standby mode, the Power on/off button will be lit WHITE, but the LCD
display will be off.
