7. Cabling of the X-series display
7.2 Power cabling of the X-series display
Power boxes
Barco provides several types of power boxes. Depending on the size of the X-series display you can choose to use the mono phase
power box or the custom made power box or the power box. The type of power box does not in
fl uence the power cabling of the
X-series display. See installation manual of the concerned power box for installation instructions.
Low Voltage Surge Protection Device required
Due to the damaging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric motors of other users on the mains, this product
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already incorporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please verify that a Low Voltage Surge Protection Device according
EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.

To protect against risk of fi re caused by overloading of power cables, MAXIMUM (see table under 7.2) may be
connected in parallel. Each power source cable supplying maximum (see table under 7.2) should be protected
by a circuit breaker or fuses rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 250 VAC in the USA and Canada). Note that one
X-series tile requires 100-240 VAC, 16 A, 50-60 Hz, X2/X4: 0.55 A at 230 VAC, X1.6/X1.9: 0.85 A at 230 VAC.

Necessary parts
• Power box(es) with matching cables.
• Power spider connector.
How to realize the power cabling of the X-series display?
1. Install the power box nearby the X-series display. Ensure the power box provides as much power circuits as required to energize
the display in a safe manner. If necessary, install several power boxes. See manual of the used power box for installation
instructions.
2. Connect a power source cable coming from the power box with the power spider cable.
Note: Depending on the type of used power box, a multi power cable in combination with a spider connector is inserted between
the power box and the power source cable leading to the
fi rst X-series tile. See manual of the used power box to realize
the cabling between power box and X-series display.
3. Connect one output of the spider connector with one of the tiles in the LED-display. Start with a tile at the bottom.
4. Create a power branch of maximum (see table under 7.2) tiles.

Tip: Create as much as possible vertical power branches. Only include tiles of neighboring columns in case the power branch
is less than (see table under 7.2) high.
5. Repeat from step 2 until all X-series tiles are provided with power.
