PORTACHAIR Instructions for Use
Upon First Use:
Push button on the black toggle to loosen closure strap and unfold the PORTACHAIR. When
you first purchase the PORTACHAIR, the adjustable shoulder strap will come attached to the
small buckles. Unclip these buckles to remove the shoulder strap and weave through one of
the three sets of parallel holes before placing your baby on the PORTACHAIR (Figure 1). The
shoulder harness should fit at or slightly above shoulder height for maximum support and
comfort. For most babies under 10 months, the lower set of holes is suitable to start. As your
child grows, check the height of the adjustable strap to ensure proper fit.
Step 1*
Place the PORTACHAIR flat on the chair with the small buckles at the front of the seat and
the labels visible from the back of the chair. The shoulder straps should already be in place.
Wrap the rear support straps around the chair and thread under and through one of the lower
loops at the back of the chair (Figure 2). Adjust the length of the straps by shifting the plastic
slides and then fasten the buckle clip. Once the buckle is fastened, shift the plastic slides so
the straps fit tightly around the chair.
Step 2
Place child on the PORTACHAIR as far back on the seat as possible and bring the front

support panel between the child’s legs (Figure 3). Attach each end of the shoulder strap to the
small front buckles (Figure 4) and adjust the plastic slides on the shoulder strap to
lengthen/shorten as required.
Step 3*
Wrap the front support straps around the chair (Figure 5) and thread under and through one
of the loops at the back of the chair (Figure 6). In general, you should select a loop position
so the straps are parallel to the floor (selected loop will vary according to the style of chair).
Attach buckle and adjust strap length to ensure a tight fit by sliding the plastic clips. It is
important that these straps are snug in order to provide proper security and support.
*Alternative for High Back Chairs
Step 1: Follow Step 1 instructions as per above, but instead of threading buckles and straps
under and through one of the bottom sets of loops, wrap the back support straps directly
around the chair and fasten buckle clip (Figure 7). Adjust the plastic slides so the straps fit
tightly around the chair.
Step 2: Follow instructions as above
Step 3: Adjust the plastic slides to lengthen the upper straps to their maximum length and
wrap around the chair. Thread under and through the BOTTOM loop at the back of the chair.
