3.2 Function
The BML is a magnetically coded, non-contact, absolute
measuring system consisting of a sensor head (BML
SGA-...) and a magnetic tape. The position is determined
based on rugged, two-track coding.
A continuous plausibility check is used to detect measuring
errors. The status of the sensor head is indicated by an
LED (Section 5.3 on page 15). Automatic status
monitoring detects the signal quality for evaluating the
functional reserve.
Absolute position information can be sent through the
DRIVE-CLiQ interface.
