Parameterization and functions (continued)
If good parts shall be counted separated from
bad parts, configure counter 1 so that it counts
the good parts only and counter 2 so that it
counts all parts (e.g. by setting the tolerance to
the maximum value of 162 = 16.2 mm). In this
case counter 1 counts the good parts and
counter 2 counts the bad parts since parts
counted by counter 1 are not also counted by
counter 2.
4.5
Measurement field restriction (blanking)
This function can be used to manually restrict the size of
the measurement field, which allows disturbing objects to
be ignored. The parameters "Blanking Left" [Main Settings
Blanking Left] and "Blanking Right" [Main Settings Blanking
Right] can be used to independently define an area for the
right and left edges of the light band that is ignored by the
sensor.
The setting is made in steps of 0.1 mm.
Setting the parameter to 0 deactivates the function.
The zero point for position measurements
remains unchanged. Even if blanking is activa-
ted, the zero point is still set from the edge of
the light band and not from the edge of the
blanked area.
If the area to be blanked out overlaps from the right and
from the left, the overlap area in the center is ignored.
4.6
System Commands
Several system commands are available to call up various
functions:
4.6.1 Signal normalizing and autoblanking
The function is explained in chapter 3.5.
4.6.2 Resetting the device
This restarts the unit. All saved settings are retained.
4.6.3 Restoring the factory default settings
All parameters are reset to their default values.
4.6.4 Reset maintenance timer
[Reset Maintenance Interval]
Resets the timer for hours since last maintenance to zero
(chapter 4.8).
4.6.5 Identifying the device
[Device Discovery]
The green LED flashes at 2 Hz for 60 s. This allows the
device to be identified among others of the same type.
4.7
Blocking access
4.7.1 Parameter disable write access
[Lock of device access and parameter (write)
access]
This function can be used to disable write access to all
parameter values. The device does not accept parameter
values until unlocked.
4.7.2 Locking data storage
This function activates the IO-Link Data Storage function.
The transmission for data storage of the parameters in
higher-level devices is disabled.
4.8
Diagnosis
The BLA offers the possibility to retrieve several status
information. The function is mainly used for diagnosis
purposes.
4.8.1 Sequential counter status
[Switch Counter State Status]
Indicates whether the counter limit has been reached on
one or both of the counters. The value is equivalent to the
"counter limit reached" [Counter 1 Flag], [Counter 2 Flag] in
the process data. The bit output value corresponds to the
counter number, bit 1 refers to counter 1, bit 2 to counter 2.
4.8.2 Sequential counter value
[Switch Counter State Counter]
Specifies the value of the counter. The function is equiva-
lent to the object output value in the process data when
the sequential counter is activated.
4.8.3 Ambient light minimum/maximum
[AFE Statistic Ambient Low/High]
Specifies the minimum/maximum value of the intensity of
the ambient light measured at the last signal normalization.
