Pipe Notcher is a special tool used to cope Schedule 40 pipe, ranging in
size from 1/4” up to 2”.
When powered up, the motor rotates and drives the cutting mechanism in a continuous up and
down motion.
This notcher is based upon a nibbler design. While most notching may be completed at full
depth, if the material is difficult to notch, especially at a weld seam, it is recommended to
proceed in two or more cuts.
1. Lightly lubricate the cutter using a
lightweight oil similar to a WD-40.
2. Clean the end of the pipe to remove dirt,
burrs, metal chips and any foreign
materials. These types of items may
cause the blade to stick and not return
freely.
3. Place the end of the pipe into the correct
sized hole.
Important:
After a cut is made
the scrap will usually fall through to the
bottom of the machine. The scrap may be
distorted from the cut and not fall through.
This will cause the blade to stick and not
return to the open position. Stop the motor,
remove the cover, lightly tap on the cutter
body with a soft mallet to free the lodged
piece. Install the cover.
4. After the first cut has been made, remove the pipe.
5. Rotate and reposition the pipe as desired or move to the next piece for the next cut.
6. Lightly lubricate the cutter after every 10-12 cuts. Use a lightweight oil similar to a WD-40.
Lubricate just enough to keep the blade wet but not enough to drip.
Note: Only one piece of pipe should be cut at a time.
CAUTION:
Always wear proper eye protection with side shields, safety
footwear, and leather gloves to protect from burrs and sharp edges.
