ADJUSTMENTS
Check all mounting screws and bolts to see that they are tight.
SPEED CHANGES and BELT TENSION
This spindle molder is equipped with a special high speed V-belt. It is designed to withstand the
vibration and sudden shock loads associated with the operation of a shaper.
Belt tensioning is always performed when changing the belt position on the sheaves, and may
need to be checked and adjusted if the speed has not been changed for a long period of if the
machine has been out of service for any length of time.
1. Disconnect and lockout power to the shaper!
2. Loosen the two motor mount bolts (A) and slide
the motor toward the spindle assembly. DO
NOT take the bolts out.
3. Position the V-belt to a sheave on the motor
and matching spindle pulleys to select the
desired speed.
4. Slide the motor back into position and tighten
the belt. When the belt is properly tensioned,
there should be approximately 1/4" (6mm) of
deflection in the center of the belt when you
press it with your thumb.
5. Tighten the motor mount bolts.
6. Spin the pulley to ensure proper tracking
Note: For proper operation the V-
belt must be on a matched set of pullies so that
the belt will run on a horizontal plane.
CAUTION:
When changing tools, adjusting the drive belt, or doing
cleanup and maintenance, always turn the machine off and unplug the machine from
its power source.
