Install the latest patch (1.2). This patch is released after the BSP Image, therefore it contains

The Update Procedure

 

A click on the Install button is enough to start the update of the system with the current Patch. 

The  internal  procedure  manages  automatically  all  the  required  steps.  First  some  messages  to 
describe the current operation are shown; then, at the end of the process, the system is rebooted to 
store permanently all the changes.

Appendix D: The Software Locking Mechanism

 

Some  services  available  inside  the  software  system  are  used  to  support  activities  like  software 
development, testing and the first installation of the system. In particular, such the services

 are: 

•

 

TELNET 

•

 

FTP Server 

•

 

EXPLORER 

But these services are not compliant with a legal for trade usage of the device. 

To solve this conflict an automatic mechanism is defined. At the base of this mechanism there is the 
definition of two statuses for the device: 

•

 

LOCKED status 

•

 

UNLOCKED status 

The mechanism is able to perform what is required to switch from the current status to the other 

one and can be run directly from the Start menu (see “

3.3.5.3 Device Lock /Unlock

” more

 info). 

5.4.1

 

The LOCKED Status

 

This is the status compliant with the legal usage of the device, since the services are limited: 

•

 

TELNET is switched OFF 

•

 

A public folder is set as FTP Server root (all the other directories are not visible) 

•

 

EXPLORER is switched OFF 

With  this  set  up,  only  the  files  stored  in  the  public  folder  can  be  modified  from  outside  (using  the 
Operating System services) and the system is protected against every kind of unauthorized operation. 

 

 

NOTE: the device must be LOCKED if the system is legal for trade usage! 

 

5.4.2

 

The UNLOCKED Status

 

This status can be set when the device is not used for legal activities (as during development of new 
software or when a base system has to be installed for the first time on an empty device).
