The public icons

shown by the graphic controls (buttons or windows) are stored in resource
files. These files are stored in the
Customized
folder and can be directly modified by the
customer.
•
Printer Layout
XML files are used to define the structure of the printed tickets. These files are stored in the
Customized
folder and can be directly modified by the customer (for instance, to change the
sequence of the printed data or to move a field from left to right)
5.2.3
Notes about Procedures
•
The backup procedure can be generally performed selecting all the available elements
(
strongly recommended
). This to be sure that all data will be available for a possible restoring.
•
During a restore procedure, the most critical element is the database
(a warning message
about that is shown also by the graphic interface when the relative item is selected). Other
than compatibility, this element has another problem: restored data may be older than the
latest ones and this can create conflicts among information.
Example: if data about new customers were stored in database after the last backup, these will
not be available after a restore procedure with this archive. Obviously, this can create
misalignment between the local database and an external source such as the company
database.
•
Restoring database, all the current data will be replaced with the ones stored inside the
backup file. If a more accurate restoring has to be performed (e.g. only the customer and the
product data) other procedures can be used (e.g. the import/export function generally
available in the software application)
•
Still about the restore procedure,
pay attention to the choice of the elements
when the
software application is different from the one used to create the backup copy. This is because
some elements can be not compatible with a new application. The compatibility is evaluated
using the information that identifies every software: code and version
iii
.
Just to give a generic guideline, in the next table the safer approach is described for every
possible situation.
