IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using your photographic equipment, basic safety precautions should
always be followed, including the following:

1.

Read and understand all instructions before using.

2.

Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near
children. Do not leave appliance unattended while in use.

3.

Care must be taken as burns can occur from touching hot parts.

4.

The appliance switch is provided with the symbols 0 indicating off and
1 indicating on. The symbols O and | may be used for this purpose.

5.

Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or if the appliance has
been dropped or damaged - until it has been examined by a qualified
serviceman.

6.

Position the cord so that it will not be tripped over, pulled, or contact
hot surfaces.

7.

If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a current rating at least
equal to that of the appliance should be used. Cords rated for less
amperage that the appliance may overheat.

8.

Always unplug appliance from electrical outlet before cleaning and
servicing and when not in use. Never yank cored to pull plug from
outlet. Grasp plug and pull to disconnect.

9.

Let appliance cool completely before putting away. Loop cord loosely
around appliance when storing.

10. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immerse this appliance in

water or other liquids.

11. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this appliance,

but take it to a qualified serviceman when service or repair work is
required. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the
appliance is used subsequently.

12. The use of an accessory attachment not recommended by the

manufacturer may cause a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to
persons.

13. Connect this appliance to a grounded outlet.

14. Disconnect this unit from its source of supply before replacing the

projection lamp.

15. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the

other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to plug
into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified
electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way.

Wiring Requirements

Caution

:  Do not connect power to the AXB-SLD until the wiring is

complete. If you are using a 12 VDC power supply, apply power to the
AXB-SLD only after installation is complete.

The AXB-SLD requires 12 VDC power to operate properly and uses a 4-pin
AXlink cable for power and data. The power can be supplied by the AMX
system's AXlink cable or with an optional 12 VDC power supply. The
maximum wiring distance between the control system and AXB-SLD is
determined by power consumption, supplied voltage, and the wire gauge
used for the cable. The following table lists wire sizes and the maximum
lengths allowable between the AXB-SLD and control system. The maximum
wiring lengths for using AXlink power are based on a minimum of 13.5 volts
available at the control system's power supply.

If the AXB-SLD is installed farther away from the control system than
recommended in the Wiring Guidelines table, connect a 12 VDC power
supply to the 2-pin 12 VDC PWR connector on the rear panel.

Product Information

The AXB-SLD Slide Interface unit provides AXlink slide projector control for
power, forward, reverse, and focus for any EC3-compatible projector. The
AXB-SLD is the ideal way to control a slide projector in an Axcess
environment. The AXB-SLD provides a switched-power receptacle for up to
1,200 watts along with a standard Kodak 5-pin projector control cable.
Compatibility with the Axcess Central Controller is achieved through a 4-pin
AXlink bus connector. The front panel LEDs indicate the status of all
functions.

Front Panel Components:

AXlink status LED

The green AXlink LED blinks to indicate AXlink communication
activity, power, and data status:
One blink per second indicates power is active and AXlink
communication is functioning properly.
Full-on indicates that there is no AXlink control or activity, but power
is on.

DEVICE DIP switch

The 8-position DIP switch on the front panel is used to set the
device number for use with the Central Controller. The device code
identifies the AXB-SLD unit as one of the devices connected to the
AXlink bus. See the Installation section for specific information
about setting the device number.

PWR button

The PWR pushbutton is the AXB-SLD power on/off switch. This
pushbutton controls the switched line power to the projector. A red
LED in the switch is illuminated when projector power is on.

Slide Interface LEDs

FWD LED: lights when the AXB-SLD sends forward commands to
the projector.
REV LED: lights when the AXB-SLD sends reverse commands to
the projector.
FOC LEDs: light when the AXB-SLD sends focus in/out commands
to the projector.

Rear Panel Components:

AXlink connector

The AXlink connector is a 4-pin captive-wire connector for AXlink
data and power. Terminals accept 24 - 12 AWG wire.

Projector Control cable

A ten-foot long, 5-pin EC3-compatible EBY projector control cable
(US Kodak style).

Switched Power outlet

A 110 VAC (up to 1,200 watts) switched power outlet controls power
to the projector using the front panel PWR switch or from AXlink
control. Projector power can be switched from the AXB-SLD front
panel, even if AXlink communication is not on. The switched power
connector is a standard 3-prong AC receptacle.

AC Power Cord

A 110 VAC (50/60Hz) three-wire standard power cord provides AC
power to the AXB-SLD.
