Microsoft and IBM Network Operating Systems
The AXIS StorPoint HD does not need any configuration to be
operational when using Microsoft and IBM network operating
systems such as Windows for Workgroups, Windows 95, Windows
NT or OS/2. To access your StorPoint HD refer to Section 4.
TCP/IP
To use the AXIS StorPoint HD in the TCP/IP environment you have
to find an available IP address and make up a unique host name for it.
Before you begin
• You will need administrator privileges on the Windows NT server.
• Have the serial number found on the underside label of the
StorPoint available.
• Make sure the StorPoint is powered up and attached to the
network.
• Any network configuration should always involve the Network
Administrator.
Assign an Internet
Address and
a Host Name
To establish communication with the TCP/IP network, an Internet
address must be assigned to the StorPoint HD and included in your
system host table. The Internet address must also be downloaded to
the StorPoint HD.
1. Find an available Internet address and make up a unique host
name for your AXIS StorPoint HD. The host name you choose
will be used when mounting the StorPoint for HTTP use.
2. The host tables are normally located in the following directories:
• Windows 95 - c:\WINDOWS\lmhosts
• Windows NT - c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\lmhosts
