Getting Started with the MC
This document contains important information to get you start-
ed using your MC. Please read these warnings carefully and fol-
low their instructions to avoid damaging the product(s).
When setting up your MC, keep the following in mind:
•
The MC and CM408T modules require at least 1-in of clearance under-
neath for proper ventilation. The standalone MC has detachable feet,
but CM408T modules do not. System 5-MC owners not using a frame
must allow for space under the CM408T modules and MC or damage
to the units may occur.
•
Keep all workstations up to date with the most recent hardware drivers.
Older network and audio card drivers are unable to handle the MC and
CM408T data requirements, producing sluggish behavior when updat-
ing the console.
•
System 5-MC owners
: The System 5-MC network must be isolated.
Connect only the CM408T modules, MC, and workstations to the pro-
vided SonicWALL 1260 router to avoid performance degradation.
Avid
does not support configurations with other equipment attached
to the network.
•
Attach power supply to the MC BEFORE plugging into AC power or
the unit may be damaged.
Installation Guides
Avid
has created two installation guides to quickly get your MC con-
nected and working with your workstation(s) and DAW software: one for
multiple workstation setups and one for a single workstation. Each Instal-
lation Guide contains an introductory chapter describing the hardware set-
up and cabling, and a separate chapter for each DAW supported: Pro Tools,
Nuendo, Logic, and Pyramix.
Consult the included copy of Installation Guide appropriate to your studio
setup. The guides and operations manual can also be found on the
Software
Installation
CD.
