Appendix B: Expanding an S4 System
This section explains how to add modules to an S4 system.
S4 systems are available in three different frame widths (3-, 4-, and 5-foot). Base configurations all include one empty chassis
(“bucket”) for system expansion. S4 systems can be expanded in the following ways:
Channel Strip Modules
Up to a maximum of three Channel Strip Modules can be installed (requires a 4- or 5-foot frame).
Display Modules
Up to a maximum of four optional Display Modules can be installed. One Display Module can be designated as
a Master Meter Display Module.
Optional Modules
A maximum of three of the following optional expansion modules can be installed (any combination not ex-
ceeding three, total):
• One Master Joystick Module
• One Master Post Module
• Two Expand Zones (Attention Track Knob Modules)
Overview
The basic steps for adding modules to an S4 system are:
• Updating the Surface Settings
• Shutting Down the System
• Remove T-Strips, Compression Panels, and Fill Panels
• Install modules
• Reinstall Fill Panels, Compression Panels, and T-Strips
• Update the Surface Configuration in Settings > Surface
