Configuring Single IP Addressing and Dynamic Routing
1. In the opening screen enter an IP Address and Subnet mask for the Eclipse
terminal. This is the address for the Ethernet interface on the Eclipse router; the
Link interface on the router also assumes this Ethernet address.
2. Select a dynamic routing mode: OSPF, RIP1 or RIP2.
If RIP1 or RIP2 is selected it limits the number of IP hops in the NMS network to
15, meaning (for dynamic routing) the limiting number of sequential Eclipse links
is 15. This 15 hop limitation does not apply to OSPF.
If OSPF is selected and the NMS network into which terminal is to be installed
has
been OSPF segmented , Enable OSPF Area must be selected and the number for
area the entered, which will be a number determined by area-boundary routers
installed in the network. If the network has not been segmented, do not select
Enable OSPF Area (it will be default entered as the backbone network with an area
number of 0.0.0.0).

1 The single IP address option is selected.
2 User defined fields for the IP addresses, and mask.
3 Click to select the Interface addressing (advanced addressing) option.
4 Tabs provide access Static Routing and Trap Destination screens.
5 Click to enable dynamic routing, OSPF or RIP.
6 Click to enable the DHCP Server option for Portal PC connection.
7 Click to enable NMS access via an XP4 NMI connection (For use where an
Eclipse terminal used to extend a network from one or more XP4 links).
8 An OSPF area can be defined upon selection of the OSPF routing option.
