U s ing   In tern at iona l  Fon ts 

 

International  fonts  are available  as  bitm ap or TrueType  fonts .  See "Bitm ap Font Inform ation"  or 
"TrueType  Font  Inform ation"  for m ore details .   Save the  font into  the printer’s   flas h m em ory. Us e 
the s ym bol s et (110  - Unic ode UTF-8)  with a downloaded  International  TrueType  font.      

To us e International  fonts , c ons ider the  following  inform ation:

All  fonts  c ontain  an internal  c harac ter m apping.  The m apping  is  organiz ed  by  one or m ore 
s tandards , s uc h as  BIG5.   Thes e m apping s tandards  c an provide  over 65,000  c harac ters , 
whic h are not repres ented  in this  m anual.   The printer  s upports  s everal m apping s tandards : 
Unic ode (UCS-2),  BIG5,  KSC,  GB2312, and SJIS.

Spec ify a s ym bol s et bas ed on the  c harac ters  to print  and  one that  is  c om patible  with the 
font's  c harac ter m apping.  For  exam ple, to print  Japanes e  c harac ters , s elec t s ym bol s et 932 
(Japanes e  Shift JIS)  and  a font  c om patible with that s ym bol s et.   

Enter batc h data  s pec ified by the  font's  c harac ter m apping and  c om patible  s ym bol s et. 

Selecting  a Symbol  Set 

Spec ify a s ym bol s et bas ed on the  c harac ters  to print  and  one that  is  c om patible  with the font's  
c harac ter m apping.   The s ym bol s et param eter identifies   the  c harac ter m apping us ed in  the text 
field  or c ons tant text field,  for  exam ple, Unic ode,  BIG5,  etc .  If  no s ym bol s et is  s elec ted, the 
default  s ym bol s et (Internal  Sym bol Set) is  us ed. 

The printer  autom atic ally  trans lates  s om e c harac ter m appings  to  others .  For exam ple, if  you 
need a BIG5 font, it is  pos s ible to us e Unic ode text data.  Us e Unic ode in the s ym bol s et 
param eter to indic ate the text m apping and s elec t the BIG5 font needed in the font  param eter (T8 
or C5).  The printer  autom atic ally  trans lates  the  Unic ode  c harac ter values   into BIG5  values  
before  printing  the c harac ter.
