Electrical Safety

DC P

OWER

Warning

Voltages over 60 V DC can be present in this equipment. This

equipment is intended to be accessed, installed and maintained by qualified and
trained service personnel only.

Warning

Avoid electrical overload. To avoid electrical hazard, do not make

connections to terminals outside the specified voltage range of the shelf in use.

Warning

Although there are fuses in the power entry circuit of the shelf, power

lines must be protected on the rack level with 20A breakers.

Warning

Before removing a power entry module, make sure that the power

segments of other power entry modules are fully functional.

Warning

Before performing any of the following procedures, ensure that power

is disconnected from the DC circuit. To ensure that all power is switched off,
locate the circuit breaker on the panel board that services the DC circuit, switch
the circuit breaker to the off position, and tape the switch handle of the circuit
breaker in the off position.

Warning

Care must be given to connecting units to the supply circuit so that

wiring is not overloaded.

Caution

To maintain proper airflow, do not leave a power entry module slot open.

Note

The Shelf can be powered using a regular telecommunication power supply

of -48 VDC / -60 VDC with a voltage return. The specified voltage range is from
-40.5 VDC to -72 VDC.

ESD P

ROCEDURES

To prevent damage to

Avaya

 element boards by random electrostatic

discharge (ESD), the use of wrist straps is highly recommended.
