Checking the versions of the LSPs (if starting from R2.0 only)
If you are upgrading a Communication Manager R2.0 server, the S8300 Media Server may be a
version A. In this case, the server hardware must be replaced with an S8300B server. Similarly,
LSPs may require a server replacement. You can check the version of S8300 hardware on
LSPs by running the SAT command on the primary controller,
list config media-gateway
<media gateway #>
, where
<media gateway #>
is the number of the media gateway
containing an LSP. If you do not know which media gateways have LSPs, you can run the SAT
command,
list media-gateway
.
Checking for and FTP/SCP/SFTP Server or Compact Flash for Backing up
Data
During the installation and upgrade procedures, you must back up the system data to an FTP,
SCP, or SFTP server.
If you are backing up data over the LAN, you normally use an FTP/SCP/SFTP server on the
customer’s LAN. To do this, you will need information on how to get to the backup location:

Login ID and password
●
IP address
●
Directory path on the FTP server
If necessary, check with your project manager or the customer for this information.

Before going to the customer site, make sure that you can use either a customer
server for backups or a compact flash card.
Obtaining S8300 software and G700 firmware
The files containing the software for the S8300 and the G700 and media module firmware are
on the Communication Manager Software Distribution CD-ROM that you take to the site. This
CD is called the software CD because it contains software for all of the Linux servers.
Additional files that are needed:

●
Authentication file
●
Software service pack files (most recent version)
●
Security update files
