Accessing the Avaya S8700 Media Server

Dialing up to the media server
To dial up, click the connection name or icon, if created. Once you are connected:

When prompted, enter your remote access login name and password.

When the "Start PPP now!" message appears, click
Done
. When you see the Connection
Complete dialog box, your computer is connected to the media server.

To open a Telnet session, click Start > Run to open the Run dialog box. Type telnet
IPaddress, where IPaddress is the address of the actual active media server.

To use Avaya Site Administration, launch the software and select the switch you want to
dial into. Refer to
‘‘Installing Avaya Site Administration’’ on page 235
for information
on installing the software and build a record for a particular media server.
Finding the active media server IP address

To get the IP address of the actual active media server, go to the task bar at the bottom
right of your PC screen.

Right-click on the Network Status icon, and select Status, then the Details tab.

Scroll down until you see the Server IP address. This is the IP address for the media
server you are connected to.
Using the various interfaces
Once connected, you can administer the media server using these interfaces:
•
Maintenance Web Interface for server-specific administration.
•
A command line interface in
a
Telnet or terminal emulation application for Linux shell
and SAT commands (usable on the active media server only).
•
Avaya Site Administration for SAT commands (usable on the active media server only)
Maintenance Web Interface
You can access the Maintenance Web Interface by either connecting directly to the services port
on the media server (see
‘‘Services laptop computer connected directly to the media server’’ on
) or connecting over the customer’s network. The browsers supported are Netscape
6.2 and MS Internet Explorer 5.5 or 6.0.
When connected directly to the media server, you must also disable all proxy servers.
For Internet Explorer 6.0:
