You must remove the card from the SF/CPU module before changing the read-

write protection. Failure to remove the card can result in improper write

protection.

2. Adjust the read-write protect switch.

3. Reinsert the memory card.

Connecting a PC or terminal to the SF/CPU

To establish a local CLI, ACLI, or Device Manager session to the Ethernet Routing Switch

8300, connect a PC or a VT-100 terminal to the console port on the 8393 SF/CPU or 8394 SF/

CPU module.

Prerequisites

You require a serial console cable with a nine-pin receptacle connector.

1. Turn on and configure the terminal or a communications port on the PC by using

the parameters mentioned in the table below.
