Configuring a management virtual IPv6 address

Configure a system virtual IPv6 address to manage of the SF/CPU Ethernet port in failover

situations.

Procedure steps

Configure a virtual IPv6 address by using the following command:

config sys set mgmt-virtual-ipv6 <ipv6address/prefixlen>

Variable definitions

Use the data in the following table to use the

config sys set mgmt-virtual-ipv6

command.

Variable

Value

<ipv6address/prefixlen>

Specifies the IPv6 address and prefix length
to add to the port.
The default value is 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0/0.

Creating a VLAN

You must create a VLAN before you can configure it as an IPv6 VLAN. The Avaya Ethernet

Routing Switch 8800/8600 supports three types of VLANs:

• port-based VLANs
• protocol-based VLANs
• MAC-source-based VLANs

Specify the type of VLAN and assign an IP address to the VLAN. VLAN 1 is the default VLAN.

Procedure steps
