7.2 Cleaning the attachment
Clean the attachment regularly to prevent accumulation of dirt which is more difficult to remove. A pressure
washer and mild detergent can be used for cleaning. Do not use strong solvents, and do not spray directly at
the hydraulic components, or at the labels on the attachment.
7.3 Inspection of metal structures
Also the metal structures of the attachment must be inspected regularly. Check visually for damages and
inspect the quick attach brackets and their surrounding area carefully. The attachment must not be used if it is
deformed, cracked, or torn.
Welding repairs are only allowed to be carried out by professional welders. When welding, only methods and
additives suited for steel used in attachment must be used. For more information about repairs contact your
nearest service point.
7.3.1 Maintenance of the hook
The hook is vital part of the safety of the jib boom. Inspect the hook periodically. Check the following:

There must not be any visual signs of cracks, deformation, rust, or wear on the hook or the pin that
secures the hook on the boom.

The safety latch of the hook must be in working condition.

The Safe Working Load marking on the hook must be visible.

The hook must rotate smoothly.

The pin that locks the hook to the boom must be secured with a nut and a safety pin.
If any of the points listed above is not satisfactory during inspection the damaged parts must be replaced, or
the attachment must be taken to an authorized Avant service.
If the hook or its pin need to be replaced it must meet the original strength and load specifications. Use only
original parts to ensure that the hook mets the original specifications.
