Chapter 22 Moving, Rotating, & Resizing Entities
Working With the About Point
When you select an entity or group of entities, a diamond appears with the
selection handles. This is the about point—that is the point about which
AutoSketch rotates the selection set. The default location of the about point
varies with the entity you select. AutoSketch places the about point for most
entity types in the center of the selection. The about point for text, markers,
and symbols is their basepoint.
AutoSketch gives you the flexibility to move the about point to another
location. For example, you can move the about point of a chair that faces a
table to the center of the table. Rotating the chair, using the Leave Original
option, creates another copy of the chair that is positioned facing the table.
Repeating the transformation creates another copy of the chair, at the speci-
fied rotation angle around the table. This method is faster than adding
additional instances of the chair symbol and then moving and rotating them
individually.
To change the location of the about point
1 Select the entity or group of entities, then right-click above the about
point.
2 On the pop-up menu, click Move About Point.
