Working With Text

Choosing a Font

To change the current font

■

Select a text entity and click a new font from the drop-down list box on 
the edit bar.

Some TrueType fonts support different styles, such as bold or italic. These 
provide added versatility in how text appears in your drawing. You can 
specify styles and effects for TrueType fonts using controls in the Text Editor 
or the Font dialog box, accessible by right-clicking the font drop-down list 
box on the edit bar.

To change the font style for an entity using the Text Editor

Select a text entity, then click the Edit Text button on the edit bar. 

If inplace edit mode is your default, you can switch from inplace editing 
to text editor mode, by clicking the Text Editor Dialog button on the edit 
bar.

Select the text you want to change.

(optional) Select a new font from the Font drop-down list box.

(optional) Select a new style by clicking one of the style buttons on the 
Text Editor edit bar.

(optional) Enter a new text height in the Height text box.

Click OK when you are finished modifying text. 

For inplace editing, move the pointer away from the text box and click 
CTRL+ENTER. 

Editing Text with the Text Editor

AutoSketch includes an editor so you can modify the content of a text entity. 
The Text Editor allows you to format text, change it’s alignment, and even 
insert Windows characters into your drawing.

You can edit text directly in the Text Editor or you can open and merge files 
created using another editor. You can also save the contents of the Text Editor 
to a file. In addition to being able to open and save text (.TXT) files and rich 
text (.RTF) files, the Text Editor supports cut, copy, and paste operations 
through the Windows Clipboard and features Spelling tools (see “Checking 
Spelling” on page 223).
