Mechanical position indicator:

Used as running indication
(Pointer cover [2] with mark [3] rotates during actuator operation)

Continuously indicates the valve position
(The marks [3] follows the travel of the valve and rotates from OPEN to CLOSED
and vice versa by approx. 90°)

Indicates that end positions (OPEN/CLOSED) have been reached
