Glossary

Glossary

Exchange Line

General term for a connection that links the PBX to the public switched 
telephone network. The exchange line joins the provider‘s local exchange 
and the telephone connection.

Extension

Internal connections of a PBX together with the devices, e. g. telephones 
and telefaxes, connected to them.

F

Fingerprint

A code exchange mechanism to verify whether the certicates used by both 
parties to a data communication connection match each other.

Firewall

Network security component that uses a set of security rules to protect a 
computer network or an individual computer against unauthorised access to 
or from the network.
