Web configuration - SNMP/Alert Settings
The Simple Network Management Protocol
(
SNMP
)
is used by network management software to monitor devices
in a network, to retrieve network status information of the devices, and to configure network parameters of the
devices
.
The SNMP Settings page showed below allows user to configure
SW550X device so that it can be viewed
by third
-
party SNMP software
.

SW550X provides three basic SNMP fields which are
: “
System Contact
”
usually used to specify the device
’
s contact
information in case of emergency
(
default value is
“
contact
”)
,
“
System Name
”
usually used to identify this device
(
default value is the MAC Address of SW550X
)
, and
“
System Location
”
usually used to specify the device location
(
default value is
“
location
”).
To make the device information available for public viewing
/
editing, you can
enable the
SNMP function by checking the Enable box and fill in the two passphrases
(
or SNMP Community Strings
)
below it
