3.4.2.1. Basic
Fig. 52. Basic DNS proxy settings.
In this section of the page, you specify the IP addresses of the DNS servers, when the gateway is in
Gateway with a Static-IP DSL/Cable Connection
mode. In other modes, the gateway obtains the
DNS server information automatically from the ISP.
3.4.2.2. Host Address Resolution
Fig. 53. Host address resolution.
By
Host Address Resolution
, an internal server can be given a domain name, so that other hosts on
the intranet can access the server by its domain name instead of by its IP address. For example, an
internal Web server for the intranet, say 192.168.0.2, may be associated with the domain name,
www.company-name.com.
To give an internal server a domain name:
1.
Specify the domain name (
Domain name
) and the private IP address of the internal server (
Re-
ply with this IP address
).
2. Click
Add
to add this entry to the
Host Address Resolution Mappings
table.
3.
If you want to remove an entry from the table, click the corresponding
Delete
button.
NOTE:
There is a hidden entry in the
Host Address Resolution Mappings
table, which maps “lo-
calhost.com” to the IP address of the LAN interface.
