Important

If several attempts to engage the clutch fail, wait 5
min to allow the clutch to cool down, then shut
down the engine. Lock out the machine and make
sure that the rotor is not jammed.

To remove a jam, see “Removing Jammed Material” on
page 41.

Start the Feed System

The feed system will not operate unless the discharge

conveyor is turned on.

To start the feed system:

Turn the

(Increase) position until the speed stops increasing.

(Forward)

button.

WARNING

Thrown material, crushing, pinching hazard.

• Do not stand at the feed end of the hopper.

• Do not touch the feed chain or approach it too

closely while it is moving.

WARNING

Stay away from the feed chain. The feed system
can stop and then start moving unexpectedly
any time the engine is running in the operating
range of about 1750 to 2100 RPM.

3.

Watch and listen to make sure that the feed chain
and compression roll are operating correctly.

Inspect Before Grinding

Before placing material into the hopper:

❏

Check all machine guards and protective devices
for placement and condition.

❏

Make sure that everyone is well away from the
machine and that no unauthorized persons are in the
operating area.

❏

Check hydraulic clutch conditions, including fluid
level in the clutch oil tank. The clutch is operating
properly if the engine is running, the clutch is
engaged, and no clutch errors are on the display
screen.

❏

Check the no-load engine conditions on the display
(see “Engine Page” on page 101). Also check for
fluid leaks and air leaks.

❏

Make sure that the engine coolant temperature is at
least 140° F (60° C).
