3.4 Decommissioning
Health risks due to the handling of in-
fectious or pathogenic germs
Infectious and pathogenic germs in
the aspirate cause health risks.
• Never use the device without an
external bacterial filter. (exception:
ASSKEA disposable secretion canis-
ter system)
• Replace the external bacterial filter
according to the used canister sys-
tem every 2 weeks at the latest when
used exclusively for one patient!
• Wear appropriate disposable gloves
when doing so.
• The reuse of bacterial filters for multi-
ple patients is prohibited for hygiene
and safety reasons!
• For each new patient, processing
by ASSKEA GmbH or an authorized
service partner of ASSKEA GmbH is
strictly required!
• After each aspiration, all components
that have come into contact with the
aspirate must be cleaned, disinfected
or disposed of.
• The disposal of aspirate and conta-
minated components must be per-
formed in a proper manner.
1. Switch off the device after the aspiration
by holding the push-button pressed for
several seconds (fig. 1(F)) until the device
switches off.
2. Disconnect the power supply unit from the
electrical connection (100V to 240V AC)
and afterwards disconnect the device plug
from the secretion aspirator.
3. Remove the suction tube (fig. 1(J)) from
the aspiration catheter and the secretion
canister.
4. Clean (see chapter 4.1.5) the connecting
tube and dispose of (chapter 6.3) or clean
(see chapter 4.1.6) the suction tube in a
proper manner.
5. Empty and clean the reusable secretion
canister according to chapter 4.1.3. If you
use the disposable canister system, clean
the external canister ‘Bag’ according to the
instructions in chapter 4.1.4 and dispose
of the disposable liner ‘OneWay’ in a pro-
per manner according to chapter 6.3.
6. Clean the surface of the device according
to chapter 4.1.2.
7. Store the device in the shipping carton un-
til next operation.
