Firmware Upgrade
Contact Asentria Tech Support to obtain the update file and save it to a directory on your PC or an FTP server.
Upgrades can be done via several methods, by transferring and updating via the S571 web Interface, by sending
the update file from another host to the S571’s FTP server, or by using the S571’s FTP client to get the update file.
Following are the instructions for all methods.
The SiteBoss supports several methods of flashing a firmware package to the unit as outlined in
As a general rule they are all equally effective albeit at varying transfer speeds. For ALL these methods the
firmware package can take approximately one to two minutes to be recognized and processed by the unit before it
gives you any notification that is is/has gone down for an update. Any active command process will receive a
message indicating this unit is going down for an update, and then be terminated. All of the lights on the unit will
flash throughout the process, and then it will reboot normally. This process may take up to five minutes.
Note:
It is highly recommended to make a copy of the Setting Keys file before performing the update. Normally,
settings are preserved when the unit is updated. However, under some rare circumstances settings can be lost
during the update process.
CLI Transfer
Refer to
for instruction on the various methods to deliver the firmware package via the command
line.
Web Interface
Navigate to the General / Administration tab in the SiteBoss interface, and use the Choose File button to navigate
to the update file that you saved above. Once you have selected that file, click the “Upload” button to begin the file
transfer and update process.
The file loads in about 20 seconds, and a minute later the unit will become non-communicative as the update is
being processed. All the front panel LEDs will begin flashing rapidly and remain in this state for about 5 minutes
until the unit reboots. Log back in and you will see the new firmware version displayed at the top of the screen.
