Linux distribution installation guide
To install a Linux distribution, consider the following information, regarding:
•
BIOS setup configuration
•
Touchscreen device driver
•
SSD storage device
8.1.1
Touchscreen device driver
The touchscreen device driver can be downloaded from:
http://www.eeti.com/drivers_Linux.html
Extract the package and execute,
as root user
, the setup.sh install script.
During the installation, the setup program asks for the port (serial or USB) where the touchscreen is connected; in our case we have:
•
resistive touchscreen (single touch)
o
serial port
•
capacitive touchscreen (multi touch)
o
USB port
3
Reboot the system after the installation. Then yo
u can check if the touchscreen daemon “
eGTouchD
” is running in background using the com-
mand:
ps fax | grep eGtouchD
Note:
if necessary, you ca
n use the graphic utility “eGTouchU” to set up the touchscreen
configuration.
Note:
with some recent kernel version, the eGTouchU utility is not able to save the calibration data into the touchscreen device EEPROM. In
this case ask the Asem technical support for a special version of the device driver.
Note3:
for HTxxxx systems the USB port is internal (on board), whereas for BMxxxx systems one of the external USB port is used.
Note3:
pour les systèmes HTxxxx, le port USB est interne (intégré), tandis que pour les systèmes BMxxxx, un des ports USB externe est utilisé..
8.1.2
eGalax touchscreen customization
As described in the device driver documentation: EETI_eGTouch_Linux_Programming_Guide_vxxxx.pdf.
in the Section 5, the eGTouchD daemon, at every boot, scans all the serial/USB ports to find the touchscreen device.
To avoid this scan and start quickly the touchscreen, you can edit the configuration file /etc/eGTouchL.ini and change the parameters:
Figure 116 - eGalax touchscreen costumization
For example, with the resistive (single touch) touchscreen we have:
•
ScanInterface 2
•
SerialPath0 /dev/ttyS3

see the BIOS setup configuration for details (paragraph “Super IO Configuration”).
