The Depth Control System operates on parameters based off a user input value referred to as the
“Target Depth”. The Target Depth is always a negative number and represents how deep you want
the machine to dig. The Target Depth also determines when the Auto Depth Control engages and
disengages. If the Target Depth is set at -3.0, as the machine is lowered into the ground the Auto
Depth Control System will engage when the unit reaches a depth of -2.0. When the operator raises
the machine the Auto Depth Control System will disengage when the unit is 1.0 above ground.
This allows the operator to use a dedicated SCV to raise and lower the machine, but still allows the
computer to make adjustments as field conditions change.
