SharpSwitch™ PCIE-9205 Installation and Use (6806800U18D

6.2.2.3

QSFP Handling

QSFP Modules inserted into the front-panel cages are automatically detected and initialized
according to software configuration.

6.2.2.4

fmShell

fmShell

is a command line and scripting tool which can be used for diagnostics. It allows

direct access to all API calls provided by the IES libraries. It can be run as IES client next to the
SSF agent, or as IES master, if the SSF agent is stopped. In the latter case,

fmShell

would be

used as switch management tool.

fmShell

can safely be used in a live system to obtain status and diagnostic information. It

should not be used to alter switch configuration because this may conflict with the running
switch management process (SSF agent).

The following section contains the list of commands in fmShell.



To display help, use the command

fmShell –h



To start

fmShell

interactively as IES client (Ctrl-C or Ctrl-D to exit), use the command

fmShell –iLs –

Alternatively, call the

fmClient

command.



To start

fmShell

as client, execute a specific command and exit, use the command

fmShell -Ls -- -e "fmShell command(s)"

For example,

fmShell -Ls -- -e "bdPortShow (0,-1)"



To start

fmShell

interactively as IES master (<Ctrl + C> or <Ctrl +D> to exit), use the

command

fmShell –iMs –

Alternatively, use the

fmMaster

command.

Starting an IES master re-initializes the complete switch and exiting the master stops
switch management.
