Hardware Preparation and Installation

SharpSwitch™ PCIE-9205 Installation and Use (6806800U18D)

2.4.1

PCIE-9205 Card Installation

To install the PCIE-9205 card, perform the following steps:

1. Use anti-static pads and attach an ESD strap to your wrist. Attach the other end of the ESD

strap to an electrical ground.

2. Identify the system in which the PCIE-9205 card is to be installed.

3. Remove the system cover and ensure whether the host system has the required PCIe slot

(with a minimum x4 PCIe connector) to hold the card.

4. Insert the PCIE-9205 card into the PCIe slot, secure it, and ensure that the card is properly

fitted in the PCIe slot.

5. Lock the slot ejectors, close the system cover and then power on the system.

For detailed information about the PCIe card installation, refer to respective rack-
mount server manufacturer’s product documentation.

Make sure that the card has enough air flow after closing the system with the cover.
Refer to respective server manufacturer’s installation and use manual for setting the
fan speed accordingly.
