3.4.5 10 Gigabit Ethernet
Each MCP is connected to an Intel 82599EN Single 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. The
controller is connected to the CPU via x4 PCIe link. The 10GbE controller is configured to
support 10G SFI to be connected to a SFP+ connector on the rear panel. This interface will
enable video encoder application.
3.4.6 DDR3 1600 Memory
The memory is designed as a dual channel, interleaved 4Gb per channel, dual chip/dual rank
DDR3-1600 Micron memory. The memory reference is generated from the Serial Presence
Detect (SPD) memory chip. The SPD memory chip is a union of the Samsung and Micron
Memory parameters. The memory channels are routed in x16 mode to save routing space, and
to allow a faster development cycle.
3.4.7 MicroSD Card
There are two MicroSD cards mounted towards the faceplate of the card. Each MicroSD goes
to one of the respective MCP complex’s. The MicroSD is designed for either a nonvolatile
storage space, and/or as a firmware recovery option.
Figure 3-3 below shows the location of the MicroSD cards on the board and the corresponding
MCP.
There are SD error found in Rev A artwork and was fixed on the Rev B artwork. This requires to
move the SD in different location shown in
Figure 3-3 .

The MicroSD cards need to be inserted into their slots before power is applied to the
board.

Insert the MicroSD card into the slot and then install the PCIE-7205 card into the server.

The MicroSD slots are not hot swappable.

The top side MicroSD slots for MCP 1 and 3 are under the heat sink, and therefore need
extra care when adding or removing the MicroSD card from the slots.
