Using the Standby Feature
Model 4 Touchstone Telephony Modems have a Standby button on the front
panel. Pressing the Standby button cycles the Telephony Modem through the
following sequence of states:
•
Normal mode : the Ethernet and USB interfaces are connected to the
internet through the RF interface and packets can pass between all three.
• Standby mode : the Ethernet and USB interfaces are disconnected from the
internet. Packets pass normally between the Ethernet and USB interfaces,
but not to the internet through the RF interface.
The current Standby setting is stored in non-volatile memory. If the Telephony
Modem is reset or loses battery power (battery backup units) or AC power
(non-battery backup units), it returns to its previous standby state. The
Standby button has no effect before the modem has registered. Telephone
service is NOT affected by the Standby mode.
The following table shows LED patterns displayed for the different Standby
states.

“*” indicates the LED state could be On, Off, or Flashing.
