Changing ICX 7650 stacking speed
Be sure to connect stacking ports using optics that are compatible with the planned port speed. Be sure that the correct ports
are connected. Be sure that speeds match on both ends of the stacking connection.
1. To change the rear-module stacking speed from 100 Gbps to 40 Gbps, enter the following commands on each affected
unit.
device# configure terminal
device(config)# rear-module stack-40g
device(config)# write memory
device(config)# exit
device# reload
The example sets ICX 7650 speeds on ports x/3/1 through x/3/4 to 40 Gbps and configures valid-stack-ports x/3/1 and x/
3/3. The change takes effect when the reload command is used.
2. To remove the 40-Gbps stacking configuration and return the rear-module stacking speed to the default of 100 Gbps,
enter the following commands on each affected unit.
device# configure terminal
device(config)# no rear-module stack-40g
device(config)# write memory
device(config)# exit
device# reload
The example configures ICX 7650 valid-stack-ports x/3/1 and x/3/2 for 100 Gbps. (Ports 3 and 4 are not used.) The
change takes effect when the reload command is used.
NOTE
If 40-Gbps stacking trunks are configured, the configuration is removed.
NOTE
Different stacking ports are used for the two speeds. Be sure cables are connected correctly and correct optics
are used before changing the stacking speed.
Converting stacking ports to data uplink ports
Be sure port connections are correct before changing modes or speeds. Be sure local and remote ports operate in the same
mode and at the same speed.
NOTE
ICX 7650 devices cannot operate in a stack when the rear module is configured for data uplink. Stacking election
mechanisms and all stacking operations, including IPC communications, are blocked in uplink mode.
When the rear module operates in stacking mode and has active member units attached to it, you cannot convert the rear
module to uplink mode. To change the rear module to uplink mode, you must first unconfigure the stack.
