been corrected and the modem's MD-CM-SG-ID is non-zero and the fiber node name is not blank, it will then be a
candidate for DBC load balancing. The modem may need to be reset for this to occur.
To allow an upstream bonded CM's primary upstream channel to be moved as part of DBC load balancing:
configure cable load-balance dbc-move-us-primary <enable | disable> [no]
The no option causes movement of a CM’s upstream primary channel to be disallowed when performing DBC load
balancing.
Load Balancing Bonded Modems via DCC
If the load balance group has its rule type that includes bonded-dcc, then bonded CMs are considered to be candidates for
moving from heavily loaded channels to the lightest loaded channels via DCC. DCC causes a bonded modem to be reset
and only the primary DS and/or primary US of the CM are assured to change. Note that non-primary channels may also
change when a new RCS and TCS are chosen after the modem re-registers. Non-bonded DOCSIS 3.0 modems will be
treated like DOCSIS 2.0 modems with regard to DCC load balancing.
Note: When using DCC, bonded CMs will always be moved using init technique reinit-mac.
This allows an MSO to set up a configuration where a rule of one type may be disabled at certain times of the day. For
example, they may want to DCC bonded CMs only during the maintenance window, since a DCC of a bonded CM causes it
to flap. They may also set up a second rule of a different type that is enabled at all times. The result is that non-bonded
CMs will be load balanced at all times using the initialization technique assigned to the group, and during the maintenance
window, bonded CMs will also be considered for load balancing using the reinit-mac init technique.
Cross-MAC Domain Dynamic Load Balancing
The cross-MAC Domain dynamic load balancing moves the cable modem assignment from one MAC Domain to a different
one based on the conditions of one or more of its upstream or downstream channels. The new MAC Domain will have
different US and DS channels because a channel cannot be in more than one MAC Domain. Note that the new MAC
Domain may be on a different CAM.
The following guidelines apply to the cross-MAC Domain dynamic load balancing feature:
Up to four cable-macs residing on the same fiber node are supported.
