The final command in this example confirms that modem 001d.cea4.ab7b is now allowed 10 MB of
downstream service.
DSCP Marking for Downstream Subscriber Traffic
The C4/c CMTS currently can mark the DSCP for upstream subscriber traffic but not for downstream. By extending this
capability to the downstream, a greater level of control over the prioritization of traffic is created. Since many CPE devices
are DSCP-aware, you can use the downstream DSCP to prioritize traffic within the customer premises.
If an application can specify a QoS parameter via a service class name, such as DSG, multicast QoS or PacketCable, it will be
able to perform the overwrite function. If PCMM is used to set up multicast flows that multiple gates for the same
multicast group (and therefore group flow) then they will use the same QoS parameters via the same SCN. The behavior is
unspecified if different SCNs are used for the same multicast flow, and is expected to be handled similarly to how other
QoS parameters for the multicast flow are handled.
Some CLI commands associated with using a service class to provision the DSCP overwrite function include:
configure qos-sc name <name> and-mask <value> or-mask <value>
configure cable dsg tunnel <0-4294967295> service-class-name <WORD>
configure cable multicast group-qos <1-65535> scn <WORD>
