Using Electronic Ballasts correctly

Never operate elec-
tronic ballasts outside
the limits specified on
their label and shown in
the table on page 73.
¡
EB 400/575 and
EBB 200/400 are com-
pliant with IP 21 (see
page 73for details). For
the meaning of IP rat-
ings, see page 98.
¡
The limits for the
mains voltage, specified
on the label and in the
table on page 73 must
never be exceeded -
not even short-term.
¡
The minimum and
maximum ambient tem-
peratures for the opera-
tion of EBs can also be
found in the table on
page 73.
¡
Only put EBs on
solid, level, dry surfaces.
Surface temperature
has to be less than
50° C or 122° F. Should
the surface not be level,
secure the EB against
sliding.
¡
Always protect EBs
against direct sunlight.
¡
Do not switch on
EB when there is mois-
ture visible on its sur-
face.
¡
Never use cables as
handles, never pull
cables over sharp
edges, never clamp
cables under doors and
never clamp them in any
other way.
¡
Switch off EB when it
is not needed.
¡
In many cases, pre-
mature failures of EBs
can be traced down to
reduced ventilation,
moisture entering the
housing or mechanical
damage. Most of these
potential failures of the
EB can be avoided by
mounting it on the bot-
tom of the stand as
shown in picture 17 or
on page 12.

Caution! Never use
other ballasts than
specified by ARRI
(see table on
page 69). Due to
different wiring of
the connectors,
safety functions of
ARRILUX 400 may
be destroyed imme-
diately!
