18.13 Replacing the Pilot
CAUTION:
Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous
operation. Verify proper operation after servicing. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in accordance with
local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or the Canadian Electrical code,
CSA C22.1
.
Step 2:
Use a 1/2" wrench to hold the pilot and a 7/16" wrench to
remove the pilot gas line.
Step 1:
Remove the (2) 1/4" tek screws securing the pilot to the
pilot extrusion.

Step 3:
Remove the screw securing the ground wire to the pilot.

Step 4:
Pull the control board from inside the pedestal. Mark the
wires and unplug them from the control board.

Installation is the reverse of removal.
Replace the pilot gasket during install if necessary (see
Section
20.0
). Make sure all wires are neat and tidy upon install.
Before you begin:

Ensure the fireplace is off and cool before servicing
• Ensure the gas supply is turned OFF and disconnect the power supply (including backup batteries)

Open the door with barrier screen (see
Section 6.3
)
•
Remove the logset (see
Section 16
)
•
Remove the panel set (if installed, see
Section 15
)
•
Remove the Burner Surround (see
Section 18.11
)
•
Remove the Burner (see
Section 18.12
)
•
Open the Control Access Door (see
Section 6.4
)
Final steps:
•
Resupply gas to the fireplace
•
Resupply power to the fireplace
•
Light the fireplace and check for gas leaks, fireplace
operation, and flame appearance. See
Section 17
and
Section 18.5
.
