18.15 Replacing the Pilot
Before you begin:
•
Ensure the fireplace is off and cool before servicing
•
Ensure the gas supply is turned OFF and disconnect the power supply (including backup batteries)
•
Remove the barrier screen (see
Section 6.3
)
•
Remove Glass Door (see
Section 6.4
)
•
Remove burner media (see
Section 16.0
)
•
Remove panel set (if applicable - see
Section 15.0
)
•
Remove the masking plate (see
Section 18.11
)
•
Remove the log rest and burner surround (see
Section 18.12
)
•
Remove the burner (see
Section 18.13
)
•
Remove the fan (see
Section 18.14
)
CAUTION:
Label all wires prior to disconnection when servicing controls. Wiring errors can cause improper and dangerous
operation. Verify proper operation after servicing. This appliance, when installed, must be electrically grounded in accordance with
local codes or, in the absence of local codes, with the
National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, or the Canadian Electrical code,
CSA C22.1
.
Step 2:
Use a 1/2" wrench to hold the pilot and a 7/16" wrench to
remove the pilot gas line.
Step 1:
Remove the (2) 1/4" tek screws securing the pilot to the
pilot extrusion.

Step 3:
Remove the screw securing the ground wire to the pilot.

Mark the wires and unplug them from the control board.
Fish the wires back through the back side of the firebox.

Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace the pilot gasket during install if necessary (see
Section 20.0
). When routing the
new pilot wires back, pass them through the upper hole in the bottom right corner of the control board slider bracket.
