If the area below the fireplace opening will be covered by non-combustible material, the side finishing strips must be trimmed along the 

dotted line.

Trim the side finishing strips. Install the side strips along with the top and bottom strips using the twelve (12) 1/8" rivets included. 

Note:

 a 9/64" hole will have to be drilled for the lower tile strip.
