Locking Content
Passport DCT enables you to lock content ratings so that household members can only watch
programs with locked content if they know the PIN. You may lock content based on TV
Parental Guideline criteria (e.g., Fantasy Violence, Violence, Sexual Situations, Suggestive
Dialogue, Adult Language). Content ratings appear in Program Guide, Channel banner, and
QuickInfo™ banner as one- and two-letter abbreviations (FV = Fantasy Violence, V =
Violence, S = Sexual Situations, D = Suggestive Dialogue, L = Adult Language).
Content restrictions may be set independently of other Parental Control locking criteria. For
example, you may set ratings locks for NC-17 and R rated programs, and a content block for
Fantasy Violence. In this scenario all NC-17 and R rated programs are blocked, but all
programs flagged as containing Fantasy Violence (regardless of rating) are blocked as well.
Note: The ability to block programs by content relies on the availability of content ratings.
Programs that do not possess content ratings cannot by locked using this criterion.
Additionally, not all DCT Units feature the Content Locking option. For more
information, contact your cable provider.
The following table lists content locking criteria by content header. If you select a content
header (e.g., Violence) for locking, the subordinate violence ratings will either all lock (if none
are selected) or unlock (if any are selected). In addition, locking a subordinate rating
individually will cause all other subordinate ratings beneath it to lock as well. However,
unlocking a subordinate rating has no effect on the ratings beneath it:

the preference display and select the next preference you wish to set.
