3.7.4 REFITTING THE CRANKCASE
Grease oil seals and oil bearings to prevent crankshaft (1) from being
scored and to make assembly operation easier.
"
Heat the left casing with an automatic heater up to about 150°C (~ 10
minutes).
"
To fit crankshaft (1) to left casing (2), install valve drive chain.
"
Heat up right casing, as previously described for the left one, and fit it to
crankshaft.
"
Tighten retaining screw (3).
To carry out the following operations, work on engine left side.
"
Install kick-start pedal gear (4), with the chamfered edge facing downwards,
onto crankshaft.
"
Refit lower chain sliding shoe (5) and secure it in place with screw (6).
"
Refit kick-start pedal system, see 3.6.2 (REFITTING THE STARTING
SYSTEM).
To carry out the following operations, work on engine right side.
"
Refit gear and pump drive chain, see 3.4.3 (REFITTING THE OIL PUMP).
"
Refit the electric starting system, see 3.6.2 (REFITTING THE STARTING
SYSTEM).
"
Refit the piston, see 3.2.28 (REFITTING THE PISTON).
Once finished, check for crankshaft (1) correct positioning. It shall be free to
turn without any jamming.
NOTE
If needed, restore axial play with a mallet.
Do not use any metal mallet, but a rubber or plastic mallet. Never tap
directly on the crankshaft.
