Chapter 4 Install and configure the unit
Network port settings (Network ports)
The Network Port Mode area gives the user the capability to manually set the port to Bypass
or Monitor (Normal) mode and to specify the Failback Method, Manual or Automatic. When
selecting a pair of Network ports in the Port Properties window, the
Port
Mode
radio buttons
are displayed on the right side of the window. These radio buttons are defined as:
The default Port Mode setting for all Network ports is Bypass.
After setting the Port Mode, click
Save
to activate the change.
When selecting an Appliance port, the Port Mode radio buttons are replaced with the
Heartbeat panel (refer to

To set the port mode:
1. Go to W
EB
XR and click the soft arrow for the Global View icon. From the pop-up menu,
select Ports.
2. On the Ports page, select a Network port and click the soft arrow.
3. From the pop-up menu, select Port Properties.
4. Go to the section for Port Mode.
5. By default Network ports are set to Bypass. When connected in an aggregation the port
switches to Monitor (Normal).
6. To set the selected port to Monitor, click the radio Monitor (Normal) radial button.

The optical switch closes the connection between the N1
and N2 Network ports causing traffic to bypass the Appliance
port(s) and is directed into the network.
Monitor
(Normal)
Radio Button
Allows data to pass from the Network ports to the Application
ports specified by the aggregation. If a failover Condition
occurs, the mode automatically switches to Bypass.
Failback Method
Manual
Radio Button
When a port failover Condition occurs, the Port Mode is
automatically set to Bypass and stays in that mode unto the
user manually sets the port mode to Monitor (Normal)
Automatic
Radio Button
When a port failover condition occurs, the Port Mode is
automatically set to Bypass, the Port Mode is automatically
set to Monitor (Normal) when heartbeat packets are
detected for the minimum duration specified by the Failback
Window setting.
