l
Wear suitable hearing protection. This will reduce
the risk of partial or total hearing loss from
continued exposure to noise from the wrapper.
l
Use a mask approved for working in dusty
conditions.
l
If you are working in the evening or at night, ensure
that the lighting is sufficient to operate in complete
safety.
l
Keep a working fire extinguisher handy.
l
Always leave protective screens and other safety
devices in place. If these parts are removed or
damaged, do not use your wrapper until they have
been fixed or replaced.
Before repairing or performing maintenance on the
wrapper:
l
Stop the tractor engine.
l
Remove the key from the tractor’s ignition so that it
cannot start accidentally while you are working.
l
Relieve the oil pressure before moving under parts
that are lifted by hydraulics and watch out for the
plastic cutter blade.
Handling hydraulic oil
Hydraulic oil is a flammable substance. Keep it in its original
container or an approved container and always be careful
when filling the tank. Once the tank is full, put the cap back
on and tighten it firmly. Then wipe up any oil that may have
spilled. Never add oil when the engine is hot or running.
Always have a working fire extinguisher near the wrapping
area.
A pressurized oil leak can cause serious injury. Do not use
your hands to locate a leak. Instead, use an object, such as
a piece of cardboard. Turn off the engine and relieve the
pressure before disconnecting or reconnecting the lines.
Firmly tighten all the couplings before restarting the engine
or reapplying hydraulic pressure.
Should any hydraulic oil penetrate
your skin, quickly consult a physician
who is familiar with this type of
injury. Left untreated, such an injury
can result in serious complications or
even require amputation.
Moving the wrapper
When driving on the road, comply with all local
identification and lighting regulations.
Before moving the wrapper, lock the components marked
with the label in Figure 5, as shown in Figure 6.
