1.0 Description
The IP SpeedDome Ultra is a high performance IP Camera and housing
assembly capable of serving multiple video streams at 4CIF resolution and up
to 30 images per second per stream. The IP SpeedDome Ultra uses
American Dynamics Active Content Compression (ACC) that is compatible
with the Intellex IP Digital Video Management System and the NVR. This
combination offers powerful new solutions to security applications using
Intellex IP, Network Client, and the NVR. This application note explains the
tradeoffs inherent in using IP video and provides guidance on optimal
configuration of the IP SpeedDome Ultra with Intellex IP and NVR.
The IP SpeedDome Ultra consists of an IP enabled housing in three options
and a standard SpeedDome Ultra 8 PTZ camera. The housing options are
Indoor and Outdoor Pendant Mount (using either RHOPN or ROENDC
attachments) and Indoor Hardmount. The camera can be NTSC or PAL and
the housings can have a clear or smoked bubble.
2.0 Performance
Specifications
The IP SpeedDome Ultra shall be available in three basic options: Indoor
Pendant, Outdoor Pendant and Indoor Hardmount. The two pendant options
shall be compatible with the RHOPN and ROENDC attachments. All options
shall be available with either smoked or clear bubbles.
The housings shall be compatible with the SpeedDome Ultra 8 camera for
both x22 and x35 optical zoom and shall be available with either clear or
smoke bubble.
All connections to the IP SpeedDome Ultra shall be via connectors outside
the housings. No installer connections shall be necessary inside the
housings.

The Ethernet interface shall transport communications to and from the IP
SpeedDome Ultra – PTZ controls, alarm inputs, video streaming. No other
communications interfaces shall be provided.
The SpeedDome Ultra shall support Ethernet 10/100 Base-T via a RJ45
connection with support for HTTP, TCP/IP and DHCP client protocols.
